Earnings at Denby pottery up 50 % in boom year

THE Actors which owns Denby Pottery is celebrating after a five per cent increase in sales to £38 million last year and earnings up by 50 per cent.

This week Denby Holdings Narrow announced its 2011 results with its biggest ever December sales which were up eight per cent to £4.3 million.

The proprietorship, which acquired Burleigh in 2010 and Poole Pottery Retail and Hartley Greens Ceramics in 2011, says its overseas sales are up 31 per cent, and it now supplies products to over 30 worldwide markets.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) were up 50 per cent to £2.2 million. Managing pilot Garry Biggs said: “Denby is a great British label, world famous for producing distinctive hand-made stoneware pottery in the humanity of Derbyshire for over 200 years.

“We are delighted that over the past few years, under new ownership, that we have been competent to grow the business both in the UK and internationally via North America and the Far East.
